The International School of Hamburg, known to the school community as ISH, is an independent, coeducational K-12 day school. The International School of Hamburg was founded in 1957 as the first international school in Germany. It is one of the most expensive private schools in Germany. In early 2010 it moved into a new building in the Groß Flottbek quarter of Hamburg. ISH has been an IB world school since October 1978, and therefore offers the IB Diploma Programme. ==History== ISH was founded in 1957 as British Army School with 50 students from 12 nations in the house of the U.S. Consul C. H. Timberlake. By 1959, the school moved to Waitzstrasse with enrollment of 360 students. ISH moved to Holmbrook in Othmarschen in 1973, and in 1978 it became an IB World School, offering the IB Diploma. In January 2010, ISH moved to its current, purpose-built campus, at Hemmingstedter Weg in Groß Flottbek.
